Isak Frozen Out at Newcastle ?

Luke Edwards of The Telegraph reports that Alexander Isak has been told by the Newcastle United board he will not be sold this summer, with the club’s Saudi ownership making it clear they have no intention of allowing him to join Liverpool.

Tensions appear to be rising. Isak was absent from Newcastle’s match-day squad for their 2-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid and was not spotted in the stands. When asked post-match if he could persuade the striker to stay, Eddie Howe admitted:

“If it was that easy, I’d be doing it and I’d have done it yesterday. But it’s not.”

Howe was pressed on whether it was his decision to stop Isak from training, Howe replied:

“I want him training, and I want him playing for us.”

The Swedish forward is still yet to rejoin first-team training, fuelling speculation he could be refusing to take part, rather than frozen out by Eddie Howe
