Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park on Monday night as they look to carry on their winnings ways after a thrilling 4-0 victory against West Ham last week. Crystal Palace also found themselves with 3 points after beating newly promoted Fulham 2-0 with goals coming from Schlupp and Zaha, and after putting in a very solid performance it might turn out to be a tougher game than people expect. A real danger man for Palace is Wilfred Zaha who has just signed a new contract with the Eagles and given his form towards the end of last season he definitely could cause trouble for the Liverpool defense if their not careful. A real stand out performance though last week from Liverpool’s perspective was Naby Keita he looked immense, he was constantly causing a threat by carrying the ball up the pitch and starting attacks by weaving in and out of defenders and always looking to make a forward pass which is something that Liverpool have missed in the absence of Oxlade -Chamberlain who unfortunately will most likely not feature this season. I personally feel that Palace will be a tough game though for Liverpool as they have looked very organized since ex Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson took over last season. Palace also have a few ex Liverpool players in their team in Sakho, Benteke and Martin Kelly who I’m sure will all have a point to prove. Liverpool fans also got to witness the debut of new goalkeeper Alisson Becker who looked very comfortable in-between the sticks and I’m sure will only get better as time goes on.Image Via 📸 (LFC Globe)
In recent years Liverpool have managed to beat Crystal Palace 3 out of the 4 games that they have played with the only loss coming in the 2016/2017 season where Palace managed a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. However whenever we do play Palace it gives me horrible memories of the 3-3 encounter in the 2013-2014 season under Brendan Rodgers, hopefully the game will not be a repeat of that!
Injury News:
Liverpool have injuries to Dejan Lovren (muscular) who did not train with the squad as said by Jurgen Klopp is his press conference and Joel Matip may be fit for the game however remains a doubt. Fabinho could also feature against Crystal Palace after being given a full rest last weekend following his knock in training.
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has said that he has a full squad to choose from for the game against Liverpool meaning the Palace squad will be the strongest it can be.
Liverpool are obviously clear favorites going into this games and I fully expect Liverpool to go with the same Line Up as the one that was chosen to face West Ham. I do see Crystal Palace giving Liverpool more of a challenge than what West Ham did but I can’t see anything but a Liverpool win. My prediction is 2-0 to Liverpool and hopefully the reds can make it 6 points from 6. COME ON YOU REDS!
