Let’s go back to the summer transfer window, when Klopp brought in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a sum of £40 million pounds from one of main rivals Arsenal. From my perspective, I was surprised Arsenal did business with us, as I am sure you all know what happened with us refusing to sell Suarez to them.

Crossing over to the my main point now, after the announcement of the signing of Alex, the comments from the fans came across like he was not needed in the team with us already having several midfielders in the team. Also some of the fans saying “he was not good enough” for our starting eleven. Klopp stated the signing of Alex “instrumental”.

Moving on from that, I am sure you now agree, recent performances have shown Alex has excelled drastically. One of them being a Man of the Match performance against Bournemouth away and a fantastic game against Swansea at home in a 5-0 win. Since these games, I reckon his confidence has improved massively.Alex has also proven his creativity side of his game in midfield.

Registering 3 goals and 3 assists in the league so far this season which is already better then when he achieved at Arsenal last season. Also creating a number of 2.1 chances per game where last season he only created 1.8 chances per game. As you can see, Alex had flourished under Klopp this season and the stats are also their to prove my point.

Alex’s Abilities

(Courtesy of WhoScored.com) As you can see these are his main strengths of the game. One of them in my opinion being his through balls when on the counter attack. As if we had taken this chances off Alex’s through balls. I am sure he would of had a lot more assists to his name. Also I agree that his dribbling with the ball has improved massively and with Coutinho now gone, he could be looked to fill the midfield slot more this season.

Should Oxlade-Chamberlain continue his recent performances, should see him play near enough every game this season for the Reds. I do think he has done his job what Klopp asked him to do. Which was to add more goals to the team. Also helping the Reds cement a top four finish. He will have proved all his critics wrong that doubted his abilities. Also I’m pretty sure he has proved a lot of Reds fans too.

The Reds next play against Swansea away on Monday 22nd of January. In my opinion, I can see Alex starting the game after a fantastic display at home to Manchester City.
