Liverpool FC v Athletic Club Bilbao π΄
5th August 2017 KO 17.15 β³
Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland π
When Liverpool meet Bilbao in Dublin this Saturday it will be the 5th time in the club’s history. This will be the first time the club’s have met since the European Cup campaign of 1983/84, which saw Liverool go on to lift the trophy for the fourth time in Rome.
This will be Liverpools 8th and final pre season friendly ahead of the start of the premier league next weekend. Athletic Bilbao have been in competitive action this week with their Europa League qualifier 2nd leg on thursday night against Dinamo Bucharest. Bilbao took an away goal into the 2nd leg after a 1-1 draw the week before in Romania. The Spanish club won 3-0 back on home soil and winning the tie with a 4-1 aggregate score.
Liverpool head into the weekends game after playing 3 games in as little as 5 days on their tour of Germany and participation in the Audi Cup were they finished runners up to Atletico Madrid in a penalty shootout defeat after a 1-1 draw.
The squad that has recently been to Germany is expected to be the same for the trip to Dublin This Saturday. Nathaniel Clyne is the only known absence however precautions may be taken with Daniel Sturridge after feeling some discomfort in Tuesday night’s victory against Bayern Munich as he dinked in the 3rd goal of the night in our 3-0 win in Bavaria.
Liverpool have had a solid pre season so far remaining unbeaten in the 7 games they have played only conceding 3 goals in the process. The new signings seemed to have settled in nicely with the rest of the squad with Salah being the standout signing so far scoring 4 goals in as many games for the reds.
I can see Jurgen Klopp giving all the players one last run out before the curtain raiser against Watford next week with the reds going on to win 3-0 with my match day score prediction.
