Should Liverpool be looking to bring in a world class striker?

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side certainly haven’t been lacking goals in the two seasons the German has been here with the reds striking the back of the net 92 times in the 16/17 campaign.

BUT…

You do feel Liverpool should sign a proven goalscorer as the league will get tougher next season with all top 6 teams rumoured to be spending big.

Lets take a look at our current striking options

Roberto Firmino – A great false 9 and links up well with Coutinho against the big teams but you just feel that Roberto Firmino is just not good enough against teams that sit deep and I believe we should utilise his abilities at CAM rather than CF.

Daniel Sturridge – There is no doubt about what Daniel Sturridge can do but how often can he do it is the question. With his injury struck time at Liverpool Sturridge finally looks like he is going to be on his way out with rumours saying hes a attained another hip injury which has seen him be withdrawn from the England squad.

Divock Origi –  He certainly has talent but I believe it is a couple years too soon for him to be starting for Liverpool in the Premier League, with performances being below par this season  just cannot see him leading the line in the 17/18 campaign.

Rivals striking options

Chelsea – Diego Costa

Proven goalscorer with a nasty streak to his game which is needed to be the best.

Tottenham – Harry kane

Golden boot winner – 2015/16 / 2016/17

which tells you all you need to know really.

Manchester City – Sergio Aguero

Has proved he can lead his team to titles netting 20+ goals in his past three seasons which is a world class record and what you need if you want to be competing for the Premier League.

Arsenal – Olivier Giroud / Danny Welbeck

Arsenal are in a similar position to us with their centre forwards being injury prone and only delivering 10+ goals a season.

Manchester United – Antoine Griezmann

Manchester United are looking like triggering Griezmann’s release clause for a reported fee of around £86M. Proven goalscorer in Europe and exactly the calibre of player that Liverpool should be looking for.

Who are Liverpool looking to sign?

Lacazette looks to be on his way out of lyon and he is a fast prolific striker who could be just what Liverpool need.

He netted 37 goals in 45 games for Lyon.

Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have been linked to the French forward.

Timo Werner has also been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer.

The twenty-one year old netted 21 times in 32 games for RB leipzig.

Liverpool should definitely be looking to bring in a experienced striker in the summer.
