Liverpool played West Brom at the Hawthorns. The Hawthorns is a tough test for Liverpool, and it always will be. Liverpool started off the match, the reds were average and didn’t do much. The first half was completely silent, but Roberto Firmino broke the deadlock with the last shot of the game. Liverpool have not scored a set piece goal ever since January, but they did so today. The second half was much more aggressive, and mean. West Brom were great but just couldn’t find good passes and just couldn’t score. Liverpool had many chances, with two of their chances coming at the end of the game when Foster was out of goal. Substitute Alberto Moreno took a shot but did not go in….
Simon Mignolet 8 (MOTM)
Could he be MOTM again? He certainly deserves it, punched the balls away nicely, and defended set pieces really well. Getting a clean sheet at The Hawthorns is hard, but Mignolet has done it.
Nathaniel Clyne 7
Average performance, not much to say
Joel Matip 7
Not much to say but did his job well and defended corners well.
Dejan Lovren 7
Average performance, every defender deserved a 7 as they did their jobs.
James Milner 7
Not much to say, he missed a good chance when Firmino setted him up, but just didn’t have the composure.
Lucas Leiva 7.5
Decent performance, replicated Henderson really well.
Emre Can 7.5
Slows our attack, but a good performance
Georgino Wijnaldum 7
Not a great performance from the Dutch. Just needs to replicate Lallana, but he just can’t do it.
Roberto Firmino 8
Great header, and has given us the double over West Brom, sooner or later he will be the top Brazilian goal scorer in the Premier Leauge.
Divock Origi 6
What was he doing? What a bad performance…
Phillipe Coutinho 7.5
Great performance, had a great chance to score but has come back well into the team.
