Liverpool will be looking secure their 7th European crown this season, the Reds possible opponents for the UEFA Champions League have now been confirmed.

Liverpool marked their return to the UEFA Champions League last season after a year’s absence becoming the first team to win the inaugural League Phase.

However, saw their campaign end in the Round of 16 at the hands of eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Under Arne Slot, the Reds will be determined to go further in the 2025/26 season as they aim to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time since their triumph in Madrid back in 2019.

When is the Draw?

The Champions League draw is held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and will take place at 17:00 BST.

In the UK the draw will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1, as well as being available to stream on UEFA.com, discovery+, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

How will the league phase draw be carried out?

The 2025/26 Champions League group stage draw will feature 36 teams divided into four pots, determined by UEFA coefficient rankings, with the defending champions Paris Saint-Germain placed in Pot 1.

The UEFA Coefficient ranking is a system that scores football clubs based on their performance in UEFA club competitions over the past five seasons. 

From Pot 1 onwards, one ball is drawn manually before software assigns eight opponents, ensuring two from each pot, one home and one away, while avoiding teams from the same association and limiting pairings to a maximum of two clubs per country.

For example Liverpool cannot draw Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Club as pairings are limited to a maximum of 2 clubs per country.

The draw process continues until all fixtures are confirmed.

The full Champions League schedule and fixture dates are set to be released by Saturday, 30th August 2025.

Liverpool are in Pot 1 and will be drawn against two teams from each of the following pots.

There is country protection at this stage, therefore the Reds cannot play teams from the Premier League.
