Isak Given Ultimatum
Newcastle United have issued Alexander Isak a firm ultimatum: no serious offer, no transfer this summer. While figures of £150m have been mentioned, sources in the agent network believe a package worth around £130m plus add-ons could yet unlock negotiations.
According to David Ornstein, Isak has no intention of playing for Newcastle again. Even if the transfer window closes without a move, the Swedish striker is unwilling to reintegrate into Eddie Howe’s squad.
The 24-year-old made his stance clear well before the current situation escalated. Two weeks before last season ended, Isak informed Howe of his desire to leave and reiterated the message in a phone call before flying to Sweden after Newcastle’s final-day defeat to Everton.
Liverpool Eye Leoni and Guehi
Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool are actively pursuing both Marc Guehi and Giovanni Leoni this month and it’s not a case of choosing one over the other.
His parent club Parma are thought to value 18-year-old Leoni at around £35m. Despite making just 17 Serie A appearances last season, the Italian is viewed as a high-upside prospect, with Liverpool eager to add a young centre-back following Jarell Quansah’s departure.
Meanwhile, Guehi caught the eye in Liverpool’s Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace. The Reds may have been handed a boost after Palace’s appeal to play in the UEFA Europa League was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The 25-year-old captain is out of contract next summer, and Palace have signalled their intention to sell now rather than lose him for free. Newcastle are also monitoring Guehi, but no formal bids have yet been made.
