Following the reds 1-1 draw to Forest Jamie Carragher pleaded that Liverpool need additions to improve on their defensive solidity.

Last night, Liverpool’s electric start actually seen them punished against the run of play in the opening 8 minutes. Chris Wood finished neatly on his left foot shooting across Alisson Becker in the Liverpool goal. The hosts would hold onto their lead for 59 minutes, before Diogo Jota headed home the leveller from a corner. However it wouldn’t be enough, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side would hold on for a hard earned point.

Jamie Carragher called out the Liverpool defence for the second time this season on the app X.

“Liverpool should’ve won tonight, but they continue to create big chances even in the games they don’t win, but the defensive solidity they had at the start of the season has gone. Always look likely to concede. Buy a defender!!!!”

After Liverpool drew 2-2 with Manchester United Jamie Carragher went onto say.

“Liverpool need to sign a full-back. I think they need a left-back.”

“I just think Andy Robertson, who is an absolute legend, is just hanging on in every game.”

“I don’t think Kontas Tsimikas is quite of the standard to come in and replace him. I think if Liverpool could get a left-back in January, I think that’d put Liverpool in a really strong position to win the league.”

Liverpool have conceded 7 goals in their last 5 league games. Although not devastating it’s quite the contrast after Liverpool kept 5 clean sheets in their opening 5 league games this season. It’s no argument that the reds defensive solidity has somewhat deteriorated over the recent weeks but with limited opportunities in the market who can Liverpool add?

Milos Kerkez has been touted as one of the reds top targets after his fast adaptation to the Premier League. However multiple reports have stated that Bournemouth will not allow the left-back to leave the club before the transfer window closes on February 3rd, even if his evaluation of £40million is met.

Fulham’s Antonee Robinson has been amidst multiple reports on how he could fit Arne Slot’s system. But there has been no official interest from the reds for the 27 year-old. US Mens National Team reporter Tom Bogert previously stated that a fee upwards of £25million would be needed to secure the player.
