Previously we spoke about Ange Postecoglou’s exciting attacking football, however, a string of injuries since the 6-3 defeat to Liverpool 17 days ago mean Spurs have only managed to secure 1 point out of their last possible 9 in the league. The Australian is coming under heavy scrutiny from the Spurs fanbase, after promising a trophy in his second season. They’ll be expected to show a strong performance in this one. Son Heung-min, Yves Bissouma and James Maddison were all left out against Newcastle United on Sunday due to tactical reasons.

Liverpool will be looking to retain the Carabao Cup and cement their place as favourites. Facing a weakened Spurs side that is likely to have many stars returning for the second leg at Anfield. The last time the two sides met in the League Cup was in 2016. Liverpool were 2-1 victors at Anfield with both goals coming from Daniel Sturridge. Trent Alexander-Arnold made his Liverpool debut playing 70 minutes before being subbed off.

Cody Gakpo is the current top scorer in the Carabao Cup this season with 4 goals so far. He had two late goals in injury time against West Ham in the 3rd round, followed by 2 brilliant strikes away at the Amex, seeing him one clear of everybody else. He didn’t feature in the previous round away at Southampton, but I’m sure he will be in contention to start this one.

Ange Postecoglou’s injury list is extensive; he’ll be without Cristian Romero Destiny UdogieMicky van de Ven, Ben DaviesWilson Odobert, Richarlison and Guglielmo Vicario.

Rodrigo Bentancur will be available after serving his suspension, however James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are both suspended for this one. Newly signed Antonin Kinsky joined from Slavia Prague for £12.5 million this week, the young Czech will be available for section.

Arne Slot will only be without Joe Gomez tonight. Caoimhe Kelleher is expected to start in goal for the reds.
