Festive fixtures continue! Liverpool are back in London for their final game of the year against West Ham United.

Julen Lopetegui took over from David Moyes this summer and had found his boots hard to fill. A significant amount of top additions to compliment his appointment in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Carlos Soler, Jean-Clair Tobido and Niclas Fullkrug has heaped on the pressure after continued poor performances.
The Hammers currently sit 13th in the table with 6 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses. However, they have recently strung together an unbeaten run of 4 games, the most recent being a 0-1 victory at St Marys on Boxing Day.
Liverpool have won 5 out of 8 meetings since West Ham United moved to the London Stadium in 2017. Liverpool won that first meeting 0-4 with a brace from Philippe Coutinho and goals from Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi.

Liverpool drew here 2-2 last season putting the final nail in the coffin of the title challenge. However, it was once again overshadowed by poor refereeing, this time from Anthony Taylor. He decided to stop play for West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to receive treatment for an ankle injury after he’d rolled the ball out. In what can only be described as a lapse in concentration, Cody Gakpo closed the goalkeeper down who was clueless. Gakpo, now inches away from tapping the ball into an empty net, was halted by the referees whistle. Only after the whistle would Areola fall to the ground to receive treatment.

West Ham are experiencing somewhat of an injury crisis currently. Lukasz Fabianski, Maximilian Kilman and Carlos Soler were forced off on Boxing Day and are all expected to miss this one. Tomas Soucek and Guido Rodriguez are both suspended after picking up too many yellow cards. Michail Antonio will be absent after sustaining multiple injuries in a car crash, everybody from Anything Liverpool wishes the forward a fast and full recovery.
Arne Slot navigated Liverpools injury woes superbly, he will only be without Conor Bradley and Ibou Konate for this one.
