It was more UEFA Nations League action on the continent last night. Our dutch trio of Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo hosted a Hungary side captained by team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai at the Amsterdam Arena.

Referee Jesús Gil Manzano was forced to halt play after 9′ minutes due to a medical emergency on the Hungary bench. Former striker, now coach Adam Szalai was reported to have collapsed. A viewing barrier was erected whilst he received treatment. Dominik Szoboszlai looked on emotionally. The Hungarian FA provided the following update; “Adam Szalai fell ill in the first minutes of the Netherlands-Hungary match, but his condition is stable and he is conscious. Minutes ago, he was transported by ambulance to an Amsterdam hospital for examination.” Everybody at Anything Liverpool wishes him a speedy recovery.

Back to the football and Cody Gakpo converted from the penalty spot to put the hosts two ahead just before half time, his 14th goal for the ‘Oranje’. Hungary showed promise in the opening moments of the second half, but after that it was more dutch dominance. Adding two more to the scoresheet to round out a 4-0 win.

Lewis Koumas, currently on loan at Stoke City, featured in stoppage time for Wales away in Turkey last night. Manager and former red Craig Bellamy subbed him on for the final 5 minutes of additional time. The game ended 0-0, however the result still leaves Wales a chance of topping the group if results go their way next Tuesday.
