With the Premier League finally returning, see what the Reds got up during the international break.

For the English lads it was a successful international break with Trent Alexander-Arnold picking up a Man of the Match award in England’s 2-0 win over Caoimhin Kelleher’s Republic of Ireland. Trent followed this up with another Man of the Match, a clean sheet, and an assist against Finland in a 2-0 win. Having Trent in top-form this season will be vital to any success Slot’s team has.

Jarrell Quansah was also awarded a Man of the Match award, against Northern Ireland for England’s u21’s. Tyler Morton picked up some minutes alongside Quansah in the u21s second game vs Austria. In the u18s Trey Nyoni scored England’s only goal in their 1-1 draw against France

Kelleher’s Republic of Ireland also faced Kostas Tsimikas’ Greece which ended in another 2-0 defeat for Kelleher. Greece also defeated Finland 3-0 with Kostas playing the full 90 minutes.

The Dutch trio of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch all started a thrilling 5-2 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Gakpo getting on the scoresheet. All three started again in their second game against Germany, with Gravenberch providing a wonderful assist for the Netherland’s first goal as they were drew 2-2.

Another Liverpool match up ended with defeat for Andy Robertson, but victory for Diogo Jota, as Portugal defeated Scotland 2-1, with both Liverpool players playing the full 90 minutes. Scotland also lost their other game against Poland 3-2, whilst Portugal beat Croatia 2-1 in a game where Jota came off the bench.

Ibrahima Konate started France’s 3-1 defeat against Italy, before being an unused sub in the 2-0 victory over Belgium. Elsewhere, Dominik Szoboszlai played two full matches as Hungary lost 5-0 to Germany and drew 0-0 to Bosnia. Connor Bradley got some minutes under his belt starting both of Northern Ireland’s games, as they won 2-0 vs Luxembourg but were defeated 1-0 against Bulgaria.

In the AFCON qualifiers Mo Salah made his 100th appearance for Egypt, scoring in their 4-0 win over Botswana.

Wataru Endo also scored on international duty, with his Japanese side thrashing China 7-0 and Bahrain 5-0 in their World Cup qualifiers.

In South America, Alisson kept a clean sheet against Ecuador before losing 1-0 to Peru.

Luis Diaz’s Colombia defeated Alexis Mac Allister’s Argentina 2-1, with Diaz starting and Alexis coming off the bench. The pair also scored in their first games against Chile and Peru respectively.

And finally, on-loan youngster Lewis Koumas was handed his Wales debut in a 2-1 win against Montenegro.

Other than an initial slight concern for Mac Allister, all Liverpool players should be returning to club duties fully fit after numerous exceptional performances.
