Anfield opens up its doors to the newly built upper Anfield Road Stand for the first time on Sunday when they face Manchester United, a side that has failed to score at the stadium since 2018 and failed to win there since 2016.

The Red Devils will be looking to put an end to their past fortune in Merseyside but a multitude of injuries could affect that.

Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire, Mason Mount and Casemiro will all miss the fixture due to injuries whilst Portuguese captain Bruno Fernandes will be unavailable due to suspension following an accumulation of five yellow cards.

Positive news for the away side, however, sees Marcus Rashford available to play after missing out midweek against Bayern Munich. Luke Shaw may also be cleared fit to play despite the fullbacks knock on Tuesday.

The home side face going into the game without Alexis Mac Allister following a knee injury the World Cup winner sustained against Sheffield United last week. Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic continue to be side-lined for the reds due to long term injuries.

Liverpool come into the match having won four of their last five league games and unbeaten since their controversial loss back in September to Tottenham Hotspur.

The visitors will be looking to turn things around after a poor performance against Bournemouth, losing 3-0 in their previous Premier League Fixture at Old Trafford.

Ones to watch

Mohamed Salah is on red hot form coming into the Northwest derby. The Egyptian is the second highest goal scorer in the league with 11 goals and will no doubt be looking to add more to his tally on Sunday.

Manchester United will be looking at Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund for their forward output. Despite the Norwegian striker yet to score in his 12 Premier League appearances, he has been at the heart of all things good in the final third for the Manchester side, whilst Rashford knows what it takes to play a major part in such a fierce rivalry.

Where to watch

The match will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports Main Event, with the game kicking off at 4:30pm and coverage beginning at 4:00pm.
