The Reds travel to St James Park this weekend to face a red hot Newcastle side in what is guaranteed to be an end-to-end encounter. Having started the season with a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea, followed by a comfortable 3-1 win against Bournemouth at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be looking to build on a decent start to the season. The opposition, however, will provide a tough test, having won their only home game of the season so far 5-1 against Aston Villa. They followed this with a 1-0 defeat at the Etihad against Manchester City, but were largely competitive in the game.
In this game last season, Liverpool won 2-0 with Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo netting on that day; The Reds will be hoping to produce a similar performance this time round.

Predicted Lineups: How will Liverpool shape up?
This is how we think Liverpool will line up. With Ibou Konate ruled out of the game through a muscle injury, we predict that Joel Matip will come into the back 4. Joe Gomez is the other option that Klopp may turn to but Matip seems to be the third choice centre back. Alexis Mac Allister will keep his place in midfield after his red card was rightfully rescinded last weekend.
Wataru Endo should come into the team for his full debut to make it a midfield three for Liverpool. With Newcastle’s physicality and dynamism in the middle, Endo will be required to break up counter attacks and provide more stability in the middle of the pitch. This means that Diogo Jota would drop to the bench, allowing Cody Gakpo to return to his more familiar position higher up the pitch after starting the last two matches in midfield.
The game is live on Sky Sports at 4.30pm on Sunday, it is sure to live up to its role as the game of the weekend on ‘Super Sunday’.
